Michael Fassbender is an excellent actor. But when it comes time to make a death-defying jump for a heart-pounding action scene in the forthcoming film adaptation of the popular video game "Assassin's Creed," Fassbender rightfully steps back and lets his stunt-double take the reins.

Check out a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the video game-based action-adventure movie, in which Fassbender stars as a prisoner who is forced to volunteer in a highly classified scientific experiment where Fassbender's character gets to travel back in time and live out the genetic memories of his long-ago ancestor, who happened to be a highly-trained assassin for an ancient secret society.

The above clip offers a backstage look at the making of one of the action sequences in the film, in which Fassbender's gutsy stunt-double, Damien Walters, makes a 125-feet jump for what they're calling "The Leap of Faith" scene.

Directed by acclaimed Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth) and also starring Marion Cotillard, "Assassin's Creed" is due to open everywhere on December 21.

synopsis:
