Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer, Golden Globe-winner Taraji P. Henson, and R&B singer Janelle Monae star as three trailblazing African-American mathematicians who are hired to work for NASA during the early days of the U.S. space program in the debut trailer for the based-on-a-true-story drama "Hidden Figures."

The 1960s-set film -- which also stars Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons, and Everybody Wants Some's Glen Powell, who portrays legendary astronaut John Glenn -- is based on Margot Lee Shetterly's best-selling non-fiction book, about the remarkable true story of the brilliant African-American women at NASA who came up with the calculations that helped launch the first American astronauts into orbit.

Helmed by "St. Vincent" writer-director Theodore Melfi and co-starring Mahershala Ali (House of Cards) and Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), "Hidden Figures" is set to land in theaters January 6, 2017.

synopsis:
HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) -- brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world.
