He can do a lot of things with just a sheet of tin-foil -- like stop an airplane from taking off. He's MacGyver, dammit! And he's coming back to television this fall.

Check out a new trailer for the upcoming CBS series, which is a modern-day reboot of the popular '80s action-adventure show, MacGyver, about an out-of-the-box thinking secret agent who is known for his trusted Swiss Army knife and problem-solving skills.

Lucas Till (a.k.a. Havoc from the recent "X-Men" films) stars as the new 20-something MacGyver, who is now a member of a special task force that goes on world-saving missions.

The team consists of "The Brains" (Till), "The Muscle" (former CSI star George Eads), "The Boss" (House of Cards' Sandrine Holt), "The Best Friend" (TV's Rush Hour actor Justin Hires), and "The Hacker" (The Vampire Diaries' Tristin Mays).

CBS previously released a first-look trailer that featured scenes from the pilot episode back in May. It showed MacGyver as an Air Force soldier who managed to escape the Middle East from a terrorist holding cell.

Apparently, that first episode is now scrapped, and supporting roles have been recast. Film director James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring) was subsequently brought in to direct a brand-new pilot. Wan is also staying on as an executive producer, working alongside original "MacGyver" producer Henry Winkler.

"MacGyver" is set to air on Friday nights, beginning September 23 on CBS.

synopsis:
MACGYVER, a reimagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus "Mac" MacGyver, who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives. Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Jack Dalton and Patricia Thornton, ex-field agent turned director of operations and Riley Davis, an unpredictable computer hacker with a chip on her shoulder. At home, MacGyver is entertained by his ambitious roommate, Wilt Bozer. Under the aegis of the Department of External Services, MacGyver takes on the responsibility of saving the world, armed to the teeth with resourcefulness and little more than bubble gum and a paper clip.
