Several years before he played Colonel Miles Quaritch in James Cameron's sci-fi blockbuster "Avatar," veteran character actor Stephen Lang created "Beyond Glory," a one-man, military-themed play that's based on journalist Larry Smith's best-selling war book, in which Lang embodied the real-life personas of eight American soldiers, who each received a Medal of Honor for bravery.

Lang has reteamed with Cameron and "Avatar" producer Jon Landau as they serve as executive producers for an upcoming documentary on Lang's one-man play "Beyond Glory," which is essentially a compilation of some of Lang's best live performances over the years.

Directed and edited by Larry Brand, the documentary will be released in theaters and VOD in October. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer, above.

synopsis:
In a startling synthesis of cinema and theatre, filmmaker Larry Brand joins acclaimed actor Stephen Lang on a journey through the desperate conflicts of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Changing character with quicksilver virtuosity, Lang reaches deep into reservoirs of emotion and pain, fortitude and courage, humility and joy, embodying the personae of eight warriors, each a Medal of Honor recipient with a remarkable story to tell. With equal skill, director Brand employs a wide cinematic arsenal to frame, enhance, and illuminate these stories. The result is a unique melding of two art forms, theatre and cinema, based on journalist Larry Smith's best selling war chronicle, Beyond Glory.
