It's the first ever stand-alone movie within the "Star Wars" universe. It's also one of the most anticipated films of 2016. And now fans are getting their best look yet at what will likely be the year's biggest blockbuster.

Check out the new full-length trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," which is depicting the Rebel Alliance's "first victory against the evil Galactic Empire" and tells the untold story of how a motley group of rebel spies managed to steal the top-secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon: the Death Star! (It's a tale that was first introduced in the 1977 opening crawl of "A New Hope.")

Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) leads the ensemble cast as Jyn Erso, a feisty renegade who is recruited for a secret mission that has her partnering up with some colorful characters: a rebel Captain (Diego Luna), a Clone Wars veteran (Forest Whitaker), a former Imperial pilot (Riz Ahmed), a rebel droid fighter (Alan Tudyk), a blind spiritual warrior (Donnie Yen), and his assassin partner (Jiang Wen).

Two-time Emmy-nominated actor Ben Mendelsohn (Netflix's Bloodline) co-stars as the evil Imperial Officer, Director Orson Krennic. While James Earl Jones will once again voice the iconic screen villain, Darth Vader, for a cameo appearance.

Directed by "Godzilla" helmer Gareth Edwards, who is a lifelong "Star Wars" fanatic, "Rogue One" will arrive in theaters on December 16.
