Though he hasn't starred in a movie in four years, Eddie Murphy will be making his big-screen comeback next month. And surprise! It's a heart-warming, coming-of-age drama.

Check out the trailer for "Mr. Church," in which Murphy delivers an emotionally touching performance as a personal cook, who gradually develops a special, long-lasting relationship with the daughter of a cancer-stricken woman that he was initially hired to serve.

Spanning over several years from the late 1960s to the '70s, the Los Angeles-set drama also stars Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland) and Natascha McElhone (Californication).

75-year-old film director Bruce Beresford, best known for helming the Oscar-winning dramas "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Tender Mercies," directs from a screenplay written by TV writer Susan McMartin (Mom, Two and a Half Men), which is said to be loosely based on her real-life experiences.

"Mr. Church" co-stars Lucy Fry, Christian Madsen, and Xavier Samuel. After premiering back in April at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, the film is now slated to be released in theaters September 16.
