Shout! Factory got the touch. And they got the poweeerrr!

Next month, the U.S. home entertainment company will release the 30th Anniversary Edition of the much loved 1986 animated feature "The Transformers: The Movie," which will be available for the first time ever on Blu-Ray.

Set 20 years after the events of the second season of the original '80s cartoon, the film featured an epic galactic battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, in which both sides suffered heavy casualties. The voice cast included Judd Nelson, Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Eric Idle, Leonard Nimoy, and Orson Welles (in his final performance) as the evil cyber-planet Unicron.

The new edition has been mastered from a new 4K transfer, and will include brand-new bonus features, including a featurette about the recent restoration and a new "comprehensive" retrospective documentary.

"The Transformers: The Movie - 30th Anniversary Edition" will be out on Tuesday, September 13.

synopsis:
The year is 2005... For millennia, the heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), have been at war with the evil Megatron (Frank Welker) and his Decepticons over control of their home planet of Cybertron. However, an even greater threat -- Unicron (Orson Welles, Citizen Kane), a colossal converting planet that devours everything in its path -- is heading right for Cybertron. The only hope is the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. Will the Autobots be able to save themselves and their home world in time?
