Indie filmmaker Anna Biller draws inspiration from the sexploitation horror films of the '60s and emulates the visual styles of John Waters and Russ Meyer -- and possibly old episodes of "Bewitched" -- for her sophomore feature, the sexy supernatural satire "The Love Witch."

The technicolor throwback film -- in which Biller also served as the main producer, the editor, the composer, and also the costume and production designer -- tells the story of a love-obsessed witch (Samantha Robinson) who, after moving to a small, sleepy town in Northern California, uses her "sex magic" to entice men. But things go off-track when her love spells begin to have a catastrophic effect on the community.

Starring Robinson, Laura Waddell, Jeffrey Vincent Parise, and Gian Keys, "The Love Witch" has been warmly received on the festival circuit, which included screenings at this year's BAMcinemaFest and Fantasia International.

The film will open in select theaters November 11. Check out the NSFW trailer, above.

synopsis:
Elaine, a beautiful young witch, is determined to find a man to love her. In her gothic Victorian apartment she makes spells and potions, and then picks up men and seduces them. However, her spells work too well, leaving her with a string of hapless victims. When she finally meets the man of her dreams, her desperation to be loved will drive her to the brink of insanity and murder. With a visual style that pays tribute to Technicolor thrillers of the '60s, THE LOVE WITCH explores female fantasy and the repercussions of pathological narcissism.
