"The Hobbit" and TV's "Hannibal" star Richard Armitage goes undercover in a new teaser trailer for "Berlin Station," an upcoming espionage series that also stars Michelle Forbes, Rhys Ifans, Leland Orser, Tamlyn Tomita, and Richard Jenkins.
Created by best-selling spy novelist Olen Steinhauer, the 10-episode cable drama focuses on a CIA analyst (played by Armitage) who gets his first chance to work as an undercover field agent, investigating a potential CIA mole in Berlin, Germany.
Michael R. Roskam, the acclaimed Belgian director of "The Drop" and "Bullhead," is serving as an executive producer on the series, and helms the first two episodes.
"Berlin Station" will premiere in October on the EPIX network, which has only now just gotten into the original content business.
synopsis:
Follows Daniel Meyer/Miller (Richard Armitage), who has just arrived at the CIA foreign station in Berlin, Germany. Meyer has a clandestine mission: to uncover the source of a leak who has supplied information to a now-famous whistleblower named Thomas Shaw. Guided by veteran Hector DeJean (Rhys Ifans), Daniel learns to contend with the rough-and-tumble world of the field agent: agent-running, deception, the dangers and moral compromises.
