This month, actor Robert De Niro is turning 73. And director Martin Scorsese will turn 74 in November. Both men have shown remarkable longevity as they continue to work on a never-ending list of film projects. But despite their respected careers, they will always be remembered for a landmark movie they did 40 years ago. And it appears that film will be coming back to theaters (well, actually, theaters in a number of international markets) to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Check out the new re-release trailer for Scorsese's 1976 classic psychological thriller "Taxi Driver," featuring a tour-de-force performance by De Niro, as Travis Bickle, a mentally unhinged New York cabbie who becomes obsessed with saving a 12-year-old prostitute (played by a 12-year-old Jodie Foster).

In accordance with Sony Pictures and arthouse distributor Park Circus, "Taxi Driver" will be returning in cinemas in the countries of Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland starting late August through early September. A UK re-release is also expected for 2017.

synopsis:
You talkin' to me?: An alienated, battle-scarred loner embarks on a mission of misguided revenge in the seedy underbelly of night-time Manhattan. Swathed in biblical allusion, Martin Scorsese's seminal Vietnam vet freak-out movie made a star of Robert De Niro and improbably turned Calvinist screenwriter Paul Schrader into the hottest screenwriter in America for a short time. It received four Academy Award nominations (including Best Picture) and won the Golden Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
