Matt Damon is sharing the screen with some of the biggest stars -- and biggest monsters -- in China in this debut trailer for the East-meets-West fantasy actioner, which is the first English-language film from acclaimed Chinese director Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers, Hero).

Said to be the highest-budget film ever to shot entirely in China, "The Great Wall" is primarily a monster movie set in the 15th century, during the early construction of the Great Wall of China, where an elite force of warriors is defending the iconic barrier from an invasion of giant mythical beasts.

Damon stars alongside Game of Thrones' Pedro Pascal and Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau. The cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Chinese actress Jing Tian, and Chinese pop star Lu Han.

The 3D film, which is a Chinese-American co-production, will be premiering in China in December before arriving in U.S. theaters on February 17, 2017.

Starring global superstar Matt Damon and directed by one of the most breathtaking visual stylists of our time, Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), Legendary’s The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world's most iconic structure. The first English-language production for Yimou is the largest film ever shot entirely in China.
