Here's your first look at the U.S.S. Discovery, a newly-designed Federation starship featured in an all-new "Star Trek" series for CBS, which now has a title: "Star Trek: Discovery."

The preview, released at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, shows the entire body of the starship as it gradually pulls away from a space dock that's been built inside a gently floating asteroid.

And while a logo was unveiled months ago, this is the first promotional footage from a new "Star Trek" show that's being executive produced by fan-favorite TV producer (and self-proclaimed "Star Trek" superfan) Bryan Fuller, whose producing credits include NBC's "Hannibal," "Pushing Daisies," and next year's Neil Gaiman's cable series "American Gods."

Nicholas Meyer, known to most sci-fi fans as the writer-director of "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan," will also serve as a writer and a consulting producer on the series, which has not yet announced a cast, but will be released sometime in 2017.

Unlike other "Star Trek" series, this new show will boldly go where no others have gone before: the web!

The first episode of "Star Trek: Discovery" will have a special premiere on CBS in January . But the rest of the series will be released exclusively on "CBS All Access," the network's new subscription-based VOD and live-streaming service. However, it was recently announced that Netflix is going to stream the series in markets outside the U.S.

synopsis:
An all new ship and crew chosen to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
