FOX and Marvel Studios is bringing a portion of their X-Men/Mutant franchise to television with next year's hotly-anticipated FX series "Legion," and they have just released its first official trailer at Comic-Con. Take a look!

Executive produced and created by the Emmy-winning producer of the "Fargo" series, Noah Hawley, "Legion" is based on the mutant comic-book character, David Haller (a.k.a. Legion), played here by former "Downton Abbey" star Dan Stevens.

The character, which is known in the comic books as the mentally troubled son of Professor Charles Xavier, is a young schizophrenic man who, while living under supervision at a psychiatric hospital, suffers from hallucinatory and nightmarish visions. Little does he know that his so-called visions are merely symptoms of mutant powers that he doesn't yet understand.

Also starring Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, Hamish Linklater, and Jean Smart, the series, in which Hawley directs and writes the pilot episode, will premiere on FX in early 2017.

Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real.
