King Kong is one of the most ferocious monsters in cinematic history. So, just imagine what his home life might have been like? His birthplace had to have been just as wildly ferocious as he was -- maybe even more so.
That speck of an idea is what provided the framework for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' new monster movie "Kong: Skull Island." It's a Vietnam-era action-adventure story that stars Tom Hiddleston, Oscar-winner Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson -- and follows a group of explorers (and military soldiers) as they investigate an uncharted island, which turns out to be the home of the "Eighth Wonder of the World."
The studio has just unveiled the world premiere of the official trailer at San Diego Comic-Con. And in a word, it looks "huge."
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer), the film also stars John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Corey Hawkins, Toby Kebbell, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham, Thomas Mann, and John Ortiz.
"Kong: Skull Island" arrives in theaters early next year, on March 10th.
