BBC journalist Louis Theroux becomes the target of harassment and intimidation as he attempts to make a documentary on America's most secretive religion: Scientology.

Here's the international trailer for "Louis Theroux: My Scientology Movie," a comical, yet disturbing investigative piece, in which Theroux tries to recreate the alleged training procedures of the controversial religion by hiring a cast of local actors to perform reenactments based on the personal experiences of former top Scientology member and now-prominent defector Marty Rathbun.

Directed by documentarian John Dower (Thrilla in Manila) and produced by two-time Oscar-winning documentary producer Simon Chinn (Searching for Sugar Man, Man on Wire), the film recently played to glowing reviews at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. It will open in Australia in September and the UK in October with a U.S. release to follow.

synopsis:
Following a long fascination with the religion, and with a lot of experience dealing with eccentric human behavior, incomparable British broadcaster Louis Theroux won't take no for an answer when his request to enter the Church of Scientology's Los Angeles headquarters is turned down. Theroux's insatiable curiosity motivates him to understand what life inside the Church is really like, and with the aid of former second-in-command at the Church, Mark "Marty" Rathbun, he uses actors to replay incidents people claim they experienced with high profile members such as Tom Cruise and leader David Miscavige.

Suffused with a good dose of humor and moments worthy of a Hollywood script, LOUIS THEROUX: MY SCIENTOLOGY MOVIE proves that what people do in the name of religion can be truly stranger than fiction.
