From acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay (Selma) and executive producer Oprah Winfrey comes a new dramatic series that explores the struggles of an African-American family, in which three adult siblings have just inherited their late father's 800-acre sugarcane farm in rural Louisiana.

Dawn-Lyen Gardner (Luke Cage), Rutina Wesley (True Blood), and Kofi Siriboe (Kicks, Whiplash) lead the cast of the 13-episode drama, which will be premiering this fall on Oprah's cable network, OWN.

Based on author Natalie Baszile's debut novel, "Queen Sugar" will kick things off with a special two-night premiere on September 6 and 7. Both episodes were directed by the show's creator DuVernay, who has reportedly hired an all-female roster of directors to helm the rest of the series.

In the meantime, you can check out the newly-released extended trailer, above.
