TV director Adam Nimoy takes "Star Trek" fans on an emotional journey as he celebrates his late father, Leonard Nimoy, with this loving tribute to his life and career.

Featuring interviews with Nimoy's former cast members and the new cast members of the current rebooted franchise, "For the Love of Spock" examines the man behind the ears, as well as the character that made him a pop cultural icon for almost five decades.

Though initially created as a Spock tribute for this year's 50th anniversary of the original "Star Trek" television series, the documentary was later altered after Leonard Nimoy's death in early 2015 at age 83. It now digs deeper into Nimoy's biography, chronicling his prosperous life as an actor, artist, and family man.

"For the Love of Spock" will be released in theaters and on VOD beginning September 9th. Watch the trailer, above.
