An up-and-coming model is seduced by the allures of the fashion industry, and soon finds herself cracking under the pressure of its soul-crushing requirements.

Starring newcomer Maria Palm and Deadpool's Ed Skrein as her overly possessive and demanding photographer boyfriend, "The Model" is a dark, character-driven drama that explores the perils of the modeling world.

The film is co-written and directed by Danish filmmaker Mads Matthiesen, who previously made 2012's critically acclaimed, Sundance-winning bodybuilder drama "Teddy Bear."

"The Model" is hitting U.S. theaters on August 12 and will be made available on iTunes and VOD September 6. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
When emerging fashion model Emma gets a chance to pursue her dream of becoming an international top model, she leaves her everyday life in Denmark behind, and moves to Paris. At a photo shoot in her new hometown, she meets the attractive photographer Shane White and they fall in love. But their relationship soon turns into a dangerous obsession for Emma. Sundance Award winning director Mads Matthiesen's second feature film THE MODEL is set in the Parisian fashion industry, featuring a powerful, debut performance from model Maria Palm and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
