A diehard player of role-playing fantasy games, Stefan Pokorny has succeeded in turning his lifelong Dungeons & Dragons obsession into a full-time profession. Pokorny, a classically trained sculptor who is a bit of an oddball, has founded a company that supplies D&D enthusiasts with fully hand-painted and hand-sculpted miniature gaming terrain pieces. In essence, Stefan Pokorny builds medieval fantasy worlds -- not only in his mind but in real-life too.

In the new indie documentary "The Dwarvenaut," director Josh Bishop (Made in Japan) follows Pokorny as he ambitiously sets out to build his masterpiece with the help of Kickstarter donations and a devoted crew of fellow artists.

"The Dwarvenaut" made its world premiere back in March at the SXSW Film Festival. It will screen this month at Fantasia Fest before becoming available on VOD August 5.
