Actress Clea DuVall (Veep, Argo) makes her first foray behind the camera as she writes, directs and co-stars in this light-hearted homage to "The Big Chill," which centers on a group of yuppie friends who come together for a weekend getaway that later turns into a kind of "intervention" when one of the couples is told by the rest of the gang that they need to get a divorce.

The film, which premiered to mostly positive reviews at Sundance this year, boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Melanie Lynskey (Togetherness), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Jason Ritter (Parenthood), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation), Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black), and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development).

"The Intervention" will open in theaters on August 26. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
