60-year-old Grammy-nominated soul singer Sharon Jones has been called "The Female James Brown." And from the looks of a newly-released trailer for the upcoming documentary chronicling her unconventional rise to stardom, no one seems more worthy of that title as it clearly shows she's, without a doubt, the hardest-working woman in show business.

Jones, who began singing gospel songs in church at a young age, spent the first part of her adult life as a corrections officer. It wasn't until in her early 40s that she made a career change into music, proving that it's never too late to pursue your dreams.

As one of the leading singers who help launched the recent resurgence of vintage soul music, Jones had a striving career as the lead singer of her retro soul/funk band, "Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings," but was forced to take a break from music after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2013.

The documentary is focusing on the singer's painful recovery and subsequent comeback. Sadly, when the film premiered last September at the Toronto International Film Festival, Jones announced to her fans that her cancer had returned and she would have to undergo chemotherapy again.

Directed by veteran and two-time Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Barbara Kopple ("Harlan County, USA" and "American Dream"), "Miss Sharon Jones!" will be released in New York City on July 29th before expanding to other cities in August.
