The first trailer has been released for "It's Only the End of the World," the latest dysfunctional-family drama from prolific French-Canadian writer-director Xavier Dolan (Mommy, Laurence Anyways).

French actor Gaspard Ulliel (Saint Laurent, Hannibal Rising) plays Louis, a terminally-ill man who, after leaving home 12 years ago, decides to have a friendly get-together dinner with his long-estranged family. He hopes the reunion would be an opportunity to inform them about his secret illness. Things, however, don't go as planned, when Louis finds himself staring face-to-face with his fist-clenched older brother (Vincent Cassel; Black Swan) while their mother (Nathalie Baye; Laurence Anyways) and sister (Lea Seydoux; Spectre) and his brother's wife (Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard) watch in utter shock and paralyzing fear.

Based on a 1990 play by French playwright Jean-Luc Lagarce, "It's Only the End of the World" premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival, where it nabbed both the Grand Jury Prize and the Ecumenical Award. The film will be released in French-language markets on September 21. As of yet, there's no official U.S. release date.

synopsis:
After 12 years of absence, Louis (Gaspard Ulliel), a writer, goes back to his hometown, planning on announcing his upcoming death to his family. As resentment soon rewrites the course of the afternoon, fits and feuds unfold, fuelled by loneliness and doubt, while all attempts of empathy are sabotaged by people's incapacity to listen and love.
