Are you deathly afraid of the dark? Well, maybe there's a good reason for that. Maybe we should all be afraid of what lurks in the shadows.

Here's a new full-length trailer for "Lights Out," the creepy supernatural horror flick about a family being terrorized by a dead woman who can only be seen -- you guessed it -- in the dark!

Starring Teresa Palmer, Maria Bello, and Gabriel Bateman, the upcoming movie is based on a popular 2013 short film from first-time feature director David F. Sandberg.

Screenwriter Eric Heisserer (2011's The Thing, Final Destination 5) was brought in to flesh out the concept, turning the initial three-minute video into a feature-length thriller, which is produced by James Wan, the director and producer of "The Conjuring" and the "Saw" films.

Also starring Billy Burke and Alexander DiPersia, "Lights Out" will be hitting theaters July 22.

synopsis:
From producer James Wan (The Conjuring) comes a tale of an unknown terror that lurks in the dark. When Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn't real when the lights went out...and now her little brother, Martin (Gabriel Bateman), is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie (Maria Bello), has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger...once the lights go out.
