Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy and Fifty Shades of Grey's Jamie Dornan are out to assassinate Hitler's top-ranking Nazi officer in the first trailer for the WWII thriller "Anthropoid."

Based on the real-life secret assassination plot to kill SS general Reinhard Heydrich, the film is set in Nazi-occupied Prague in 1942. Murphy and Dornan play two members of a group of Czech resistance fighters who are willing to risk their lives for freedom. In an attempt to break Hitler's grip on Europe, they devised an underground mission, calling it by the codename of "Operation Anthropoid."

Co-written and directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Sean Ellis (Metro Manila, Cashback), "Anthropoid" also stars Toby Jones (Harry Potter, Captain America), Charlotte Le Bon (The Walk), Harry Lloyd (The Theory of Everything), Sam Keeley (Burnt), and Czech actress Anna Geislerova.

"Anthropoid" will be coming to theaters on August 12.

ANTHROPOID is based on the extraordinary true story of Operation Anthropoid, the World War II mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich. The Reich's third in command after Hitler and Himmler, Heydrich was the main architect behind the Final Solution and the leader of occupying Nazi forces in Czechoslovakia whose reign of terror prompted Allied soldiers (Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan) to hatch a top-secret mission that would change the face of Europe forever.
