The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Or in this case, a terrible thing to explode!

Check out the trailer for "The Mind's Eye," a throwback horror movie about a man with psychokinetic abilities (Graham Skipper; "Carnage Park") who sets out to protect his similarly mutant-powered girlfriend (Lauren Ashley Carter; "Darling") from an evil scientist (John Speredakos; "The House of the Devil") who wants to steal their mind-controlling powers for himself.

Horror filmmaker Joe Begos, who made his film debut with 2014's low-budget alien abduction/slasher flick "Almost Human," writes, directs and produces this cinematic love letter to '80s sci-fi, horror films, seemingly drawing inspiration from David Cronenberg's "Scanners," Ken Russell's "Altered States," and perhaps Brian De Palma's "The Fury."

"The Mind's Eye" has spent the past several months on the festival circuit, where it received positive responses from critics and won a Best Director Award at the 2015 Austin Fantastic Fest.

The film, which co-stars horror guru Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter), Noah Segan (Looper) and Jeremy Gardner (The Battery), will be released in theaters and on iTunes and VOD beginning August 5th.

synopsis:
Zack Connors and Rachel Meadows were born with incredible psychokinetic capabilities. When word of their supernatural talents gets out, they find themselves the prisoners of Michael Slovak, a deranged doctor intent on harvesting their powers. After a daring escape, they are free from his sinister institution, but the corrupt doctor will stop at nothing to track them down so that he may continue to siphon their gifts for his own use.
