Based on the global best-selling books by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen, "Department Q: Trilogy" is a three-part Scandinavian crime-thriller film series that will make its U.S. debut next week in theaters and on VOD, courtesy of IFC Films. And a new U.S. trailer has been unveiled.

Originally released internationally as three features (2013's "The Keeper of Lost Causes," 2014's "The Absent One," and 2016's "A Conspiracy of Faith"), the series follows two hard-boiled Copenhangen detectives "from different worlds" -- played by Danish actor Nikolaj Lie Kaas (Angels & Demons) and Lebanese-Swedish actor Fares Fares (Safe House, FX's Tyrant) -- as they attempt to solve cold cases that involve the disappearance of a high-ranking female politician, a brutal prep school murder, and a cryptic letter with possible clues to a religious-related conspiracy.

All three critically acclaimed films have been huge blockbusters in their native country, with the most recent film, "A Conspiracy of Faith," breaking a 15-year-old best opening weekend record back in March at the Danish box office.

Adapted for the screen by Danish screenwriter Nikolaj Arcel, who also co-wrote the original Swedish adaptation of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," the three-part film series was directed by Mikkel Norgaard (Klown) with the third recent film helmed by Hans Petter Moland (In Order of Disappearance).

"Department Q: Trilogy" will be released in select theaters and on demand June 17th.

synopsis:
Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen's international bestsellers, the riveting Department Q series introduces maverick detective Carl Mørck (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) who, after majorly botching an assignment, is relegated to reviewing cold cases. With his new partner Assad (Fares Fares) and secretary Rose (Johanne Louise Schmidt) the moody Morck digs into shocking unsolved mysteries including the kidnapping of a high-ranking government official, a brutal prep school murder and a bloody message from two children presumed dead. A nonstop series of ingenious twists and shocking surprises keep the suspense simmering in these three stylish thrillers: The Keeper of Lost Causes, The Absent One and A Conspiracy of Faith.
