There's something very special under the hood of this old beaten-up monster truck: an actual monster!

Check out the very first trailer for the upcoming action-adventure film "Monster Trucks," about a teenage mechanic (played by "X-Men" and upcoming "MacGyver" reboot star Lucas Till) who discovers a strange tentacle creature has attached itself to the engine of his battered green truck, turning it into an actual "monster truck." Go figure!

Also starring Jane Levy (from the "Evil Dead" remake), the film is directed by Oscar-winning animator and Blue Sky Studios co-founder Chris Wedge, who previously helmed the first "Ice Age" movie and the 2005 animated blockbuster "Robots." And though it features computer-generated creatures, "Monster Trucks" is Wedge's first foray into live-action filmmaking.

Scheduled to be released on January 13, 2017, "Monster Trucks" also stars Thomas Lennon as a well-intentioned scientist, Danny Glover as a junkyard owner, and Holt McCallany as the evil monster chaser. While Barry Pepper, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, and Frank Whaley round out the cast.

synopsis:
Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.
