Kristen Bell discovers there's life after death in the new sneak-peek trailer for NBC's new half-hour comedy series "The Good Place," which also stars the always-entertaining Ted Danson (Fargo, Cheers).

Created by executive producer Michael Schur, of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Parks and Recreation" fame, the show is set in the afterlife where Kristen Bell's character, Eleanor Shellstrop, has just died in a freak accident.

Fortunately for Eleanor, she has been accepted to "the good place," where good-hearted people can enjoy an eternal life of peace and harmony. Unfortunately, someone must have made a huge clerical error in the filing department, because Eleanor is not supposed to be there. She's the wrong Eleanor Shellstrop. And, at the time of her death, this Eleanor was an awful, self-absorbed jerk. Could it be too late for Eleanor to turn her life (or rather her death) around?

Drew Goddard, the Oscar-nominated writer of "The Martian," is directing the pilot episode, which will debut sometime in the fall.

synopsis:
From Michael Schur, executive producer of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Parks and Recreation," comes a smart, unique new comedy that follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, "House of Lies," "Veronica Mars"), an ordinary woman who, through an extraordinary string of events, enters the afterlife where she comes to realize that she hasn't been a very good person. With the help of her wise afterlife mentor (Ted Danson, "Bored to Death," "Cheers"), she's determined to shed her old way of living and discover the awesome (or at least the pretty good) person within.
