Well, who doesn't like a good, old fashion science-fiction yarn that involves a time machine?

Abigail Spencer (Suits, Rectify) leads the cast of this new time-travel mystery series for NBC, about a reputable history professor (played by Spencer) enlisted by U.S. authorities to lead a top-secret mission concerning the capture of a mysterious criminal (ER's Goran Visnjic) who's traveling through time in a stolen, government-made time machine.

Spencer's character will be accompanied by a highly-trained military soldier ("90210" star Matt Lanter) and an unadventurous quantum physicist (Malcolm Barrett, from the short-lived comedy "Better Off Ted") as they pursue the rogue time-traveler through certain episodes in history by traveling in a prototype time machine.

Slated as one of NBC's new fall shows, "Timeless" comes from "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke, executive producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and the producers of "The Blacklist"

"Game of Thrones" helmer Neil Marshall directs the pilot episode, which will feature the 1937 Hindenburg disaster. The NBC series co-stars Matt Frewer, Sakina Jaffrey, Paterson Joseph, and Shantel VanSanten and will start airing on Mondays in the fall.

synopsis:
From Eric Kripke ("Revolution," "Supernatural"), Shawn Ryan ("The Shield") and the producers of "The Blacklist" comes this thrilling action-adventure series in which a mysterious criminal steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past. Our only hope is an unexpected team: a scientist, a soldier and a history professor, who must use the machine's prototype to travel back in time to critical events. While they must make every effort not to affect the past themselves, they must also stay one step ahead of this dangerous fugitive. But can this handpicked team uncover the mystery behind it all and end his destruction before it's too late?
