Sometimes the truth is scarier than fiction. Check out a newly-released featurette for the supernatural horror sequel "The Conjuring 2," and get a quick (and particularly disturbing) history lesson about the real-life poltergeist case on which the film is based.

As the story goes: In the summer of 1977, a single mother from the North London suburb of Enfield started to witness "strange happenings" that involved her four children -- mainly her 11-year-old daughter, who apparently spoke in strange demonic voices and was allegedly seen levitating off the ground during a couple of terrifying incidents. The case became widely known as "The Enfield Poltergeist" and was reported in British newspapers with the headline, "The House of Strange Happenings."

The upcoming James Wan-directed film will once again follow the dramatized versions of real-life American paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by returning actors Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga). And the Warrens really did travel to England and investigated the case in 1977.

"The Conjuring 2" will be landing in theaters on June 10th.

synopsis:
