Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges is a West Texas Ranger pursuing a couple of uncharacteristic bank robbers (Chris Pine and Ben Foster) in the newly-released trailer for the upcoming crime drama "Hell or High Water."

Written by actor-turned-screenwriter Taylor Sheridan, of "Sicario" fame, the Texas-set film stars Pine and Foster (just seen together in the ocean-rescue thriller "The Finest Hours") as two brothers strapped for cash, who resort to knocking off a series of banks in a desperate effort to pay off the mortgage debt on their ailing mother's ranch property.

Meanwhile, a seasoned and tenacious detective (Bridges), who is just days away from retirement, agrees to take on the robbery case for one last shot at glory.

The film, which co-stars Kevin Rankin and Gil Birmingham, will be premiering this month at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section.

Set to open in theaters on August 2nd, "Hell or High Water" is directed by David Mackenzie, the British helmer of the critically acclaimed prison drama "Starred Up" which starred Jack O'Connell and Ben Mendelsohn.
