AMC's Preacher: Season 1 — New Featurettes

added: Fri, May 13th '16

It's a supernatural horror. And it's a dark comedy … and also an ultra-violent western. Hell, it's hard to describe AMC's new series "Preacher" because it won't fit in just one type of genre. So it's a good thing that the network has released a bunch of new featurettes, which is giving viewers a much better idea of what kind of show it truly is.

Starring Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, and Joseph Gilgun, the 10-part series, which is based on Garth Ennis' cult comic book series, centers on a hard-living and hard-drinking Texas preacher, named Jesse Custer (Cooper), who becomes partly possessed by an angel-demon entity. Now endowed with supernatural powers, Custer embarks on a dangerous quest to find God, with the aid of his kick-ass criminal ex-girlfriend, Tulip O'Hare (Negga) and his new best friend, Cassidy (Gilgun), who is a drug-and-alcohol-addled Irish vampire.

Executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, with "Breaking Bad" producer-writer Sam Catlin serving as showrunner, "Preacher" also stars W. Earl Brown, Derek Wilson, Anatol Yusef, Tom Brooke, Lucy Griffiths, and Ian Colletti. It's set to premiere Sunday, May 22 on AMC.

Preacher is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper, Agent Carter), a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun, This Is England) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.
