Reprising his role as puzzle-cracking symbologist Robert Langdon, Tom Hanks reunites with director Ron Howard and producer Brian Glazer for the forthcoming third installment in the "Da Vinci Code" film franchise. And today, fans are getting a peek at their latest collaboration. Check out the very first trailer for "Inferno," which sees Hanks starring alongside English actress Felicity Jones (Star Wars: Rogue One).

Based on Dan Brown's best-selling novel, the globe-trotting adventure thriller finds Hanks' Langdon embroiled in yet another mind-twisting mystery. This time, the stakes are much, much higher as it appears Langdon is "humanity's final hope." He's possibly the only person in the world who can unlock a puzzle concerning a cryptic map of Dante's version of hell, which seems to, somehow, involve a man-made plague with the power to wipe out the human race. And not to mention, a blood gushing incident that submerges an entire bottom half of a building. "Oh my God!"

Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Ben Foster, and Sidse Babett Knudsen co-star in the film, which was adapted by "Angels & Demons" scribe David Koepp.

"Inferno" will open in theaters everywhere on October 28th.
