One of the big selling points for this inner-city indie drama, about a couple of skateboarding delinquents navigating the mean streets of Cleveland, is that it was executive produced by the rapper Nasir "NAS" Jones. But if that's not enough to catch your interest, you should know that NAS also contributes a song to the movie's soundtrack, which, in fact, also includes new music from Erykah Badu, Kanye West, French Montana, Jeremih, Pusha T, and Cleveland's own, Machine Gun Kelly, who also plays a supporting role in the film.

Featuring an ensemble cast of young actors, including newcomer Jorge Lendeborg Jr., The Kings of Summer's Moises Arias, Snitch's Rafi Gavron and newcomer Ezri Walker, "The Land" is written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Steven Caple Jr., who previously co-created and directed the cult web series "Class."

Premiering at this year's Sundance Film Festival, the movie, which also includes appearances by Michael Kenneth Williams, Erykah Badu, Kim Coates, Natalie Martinez, and Linda Emond, was quickly acquired by IFC Films.

"The Land" is currently set to hit theaters and VOD on July 29th. In the meantime, you can check out the film's trailer, above.

synopsis:
Teenage buddies Cisco, Boobie, Junior, and Patty Cake skateboard the streets of Cleveland, Ohio, dreaming of getting discovered by a sponsor and skating their way out of poverty. That is until the boys discover a bag full of pills in the back of a stolen car. Cisco’s entrepreneurial instincts take over, and in a flash their lives get better. But no one counted on having to come face to face with the cold, calculating, and notorious drug queenpin, “Momma,” who runs the toughest gang in town.
