Acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin, who made an impressive debut with the 2008 crime thriller "The Chaser," is back this year with another suspenseful nail-biter called "The Wailing."
Selected to screen out of competition at this month's Cannes Film Festival, "The Wailing" stars Korean actor Kwak Do-won (The Attorney) as a small-town police officer who is pulled into a head-scratching investigation involving a mysterious illness that has wiped out a small remote village. Worse yet, the virus seems to be spreading and claiming more victims, including the officer's own daughter. Yowzers!
Hwang Jung-min (The Himalayas, New World) and Chun Woo-hee (Han Gong-ju, Mother) also star in the upcoming thriller, which will be released in the U.S. on June 3rd. Watch the newly-released U.S. trailer, above.
synopsis:
