Imagine "The X-Files." But instead of Mulder and Scully, you got legendary magician Harry Houdini and legendary "Sherlock Holmes" author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle working together to solve supernatural-related crimes for Scotland Yard. That's perhaps the quickest way to describe FOX's turn-of-the-20th-century detective/mystery series "Houdini & Doyle," which reimagines the real-life friendship between the skeptic Houdini and the believer Doyle as a crime-investigating duo.
Check out a new "first look" preview for the 10-episode series, which stars Michael Weston (House, Scrubs) as the famed magician/paranormal debunker and English actor Stephen Mangan (Episodes) as the famed British crime-fiction writer/spiritualist.
Hailing from "House" creator David Shore, the series also finds actress Rebecca Liddiard portraying Adelaide Stratton, who, historically, was the first ever female constable at Scotland Yard. Stratton has been woven into the fictional story as Houdini and Doyle's investigative collaborator and liaison.
Co-starring Tim McInnerny (Notting Hill), Adam Nagaitis ('71), and Louise Delamere (Holby City), "Houdini & Doyle" is set to premiere next week on Monday, May 2nd on FOX.
