After a three-year break, acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Stoker) will be returning this year with "The Handmaiden," a stylish period thriller about an orphaned girl raised to be a seductress by a family of thieves and con-men.

The film, starring KIM Min-hee (No Tears for the Dead), HA Jung-woo (The Chaser, The Berlin File), CHO Jin-woong (The Admiral), and newcomer KIM Tae-ri, is a Korean interpretation of the Victorian-era crime novel "Fingersmith" by British author Sarah Waters.

"The Handmaiden" was recently selected to make its world premiere, screening in competition, next month at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. The movie was also recently acquired by Amazon Studios and is slated to be released in the U.S. under the Amazon banner. Though, an official release date has yet to be announced. In the meantime, you can check out the film's international trailer, above.
