Earth had twenty years to prepare for another alien attack. Now those landmark-destroying bastards have returned, and it seems twenty years wasn't nearly enough time.

Get ready to see all sorts of fireworks, because a new action-packed trailer for "Independence Day: Resurgence" has been unveiled. And it's giving fans another thrilling look at the long-awaited and much-anticipated sequel to the 1996 blockbuster.

Once again directed by disaster-movie master Roland Emmerich and produced by ID4 writer Dean Devlin, and starring Jeff Goldblum (as David Levinson) and a white-bearded Bill Pullman (as former U.S. President Thomas J. Whitmore), the upcoming film is set twenty years after the events of the original. And it envisions a contemporary world where alien technology has been utilized to boost up security. Little does the world know, however, that it will take more than high-tech weaponry and state-of-the-art military jets to win this battle. It's going to take sacrifice and a whole lot of luck.

The main cast also includes Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth, It Follows' Maika Monroe as Whitmore's adult daughter and Jessie Usher as the adult son of the late, Captain Steven Hiller (played by Will Smith in the first movie). All of their characters are heroic fighter pilots who have been trained to kill aliens.

Sela Ward, William Fichtner, Joey King, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Angelababy, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, and Brent Spiner round out the supporting cast. Meanwhile, "Independence Day: Resurgence" is slated to hit theaters June 24th.

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
