If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. It's a lesson that Hollywood should heed. And it's also a message that Japanese film distributor, Toho, seems to be taking to heart as they're going back to the basics with their own "Godzilla" reboot. Yeah, that's right. The never-ending Kaiju franchise, featuring a gigantic radioactive reptile that can take out whole buildings with one swipe of its massive tail, is back -- and it's just the way you like it: kinda rubbery and kinda crap-my-pants scary!
Check out the Japanese trailer for "Godzilla Resurgence," which is free of dialogue but full of grimaces and shocked expressions. The live-action film, which should be opening in Japan in the summer (July 29), is directed by both Japanese animator/anime filmmaker Hideaki Anno (of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" fame) and former storyboard artist-turned-action helmer Shinji Higuchi (who just helmed the two-part, live-action film adaptation of "Attack on Titan").
