Independence Day: Resurgence — New TV Spot: 'They're Coming Back'

added: Sun, Apr 3rd '16

Aliens sure have a strange way of celebrating an oncoming attack. Prepare to be nervous because "sssshe has arrived."

Watch a screaming tentacle creature as it gets one of its creepy appendages around the neck of former President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) in a brand-new commercial for "Independence Day: Resurgence," the long-awaited sequel to director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin's 1996 blockbuster.

The film, which takes place 20 years after the original and envisions a world where humanity has now developed and adopted alien technology to protect themselves from an impending alien invasion, sees the old gang back together. Well, minus Will Smith's character, Captain Hiller, who apparently had died in the interim.

President Whitmore (Pullman), hero computer scientist David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) and wacky alien researcher Dr. Okun (Brent Spiner) have returned to fight off a new invasion. Also helping the cause are President Whitmore's young adult daughter, Patricia Whitmore, who's a military jet fighter pilot (played by "It Follows" actress Maika Monroe) and her boyfriend, Jake Morrison, also an ace pilot (played by Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth).

"Independence Day: Resurgence" will be coming to theaters on June 24.

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
