For three seasons of NBC's short-lived horror series "Hannibal," Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen creeped you out with his portrayal of iconic cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Now Mikkelsen is back to shock you once more, but this time with laughter.

In the dark slapstick comedy "Men & Chicken," from acclaimed Danish screenwriter-turned-filmmaker Anders Thomas Jensen (who co-wrote director Susanne Bier's Oscar-winning foreign drama "In a Better World"), Mikkelsen stars alongside David Dencik (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) as two socially stunted brothers who learn that the man they thought were their father was actually their adopted dad. Now armed with that knowledge, they travel to a small remote island to find their biological father, only to encounter a couple of dim-witted, hillbilly half-brothers.

"Men & Chicken," which has gotten strong reviews at festival showings, will make its stateside debut next month, opening in select theaters April 22.

synopsis:
Men & Chicken is a darkly hilarious slapstick comedy starring Mads Mikkelsen ("Hannibal," ingeniously cast against type) about a pair of socially-challenged siblings who discover they are adopted half-brothers in their late father's videotaped will. Their journey in search of their true father takes them to the small, insular Danish island of Ork, where they stumble upon three additional half-brothers -- each also sporting hereditary harelips and lunatic tendencies -- living in a dilapidated mansion overrun by barn animals. Initially unwelcome by their newfound kin, the two visitors stubbornly wear them down until they’re reluctantly invited to stay. As the misfit bunch get to know each other, they unwittingly uncover a deep family secret that ultimately binds them together...
