"Arrow" star Stephen Amell has teamed up with his cousin, actor Robbie Amell (The Flash, The X-Files), for a sci-fi film project called "Code 8," which can be roughly described as "District 9" meets "Chronicle."

In hopes of drumming up some financial support for the as-yet-unproduced feature film, Stephen and Robbie have recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, and have also released this 10-minute proof-of-concept short, which features Robbie as a lowly construction worker with special abilities who gets into a scuffle with a couple of robot police officers.

Directed by Jeff Chan and written by Chris Pare, the team behind the viral short "Call of Duty: Operation Kingfish," "Code 8" is set in a world "where 4 percent of the population are born with some type of supernatural ability" and as a result, the police force has become extremely militarized. High-tech drones and robotic officers with heavy-duty weaponry are seen patrolling the streets on a daily basis.

In addition to Robbie and Stephen, the cast of "Code 8" will include Sung Kang (Fast & Furious films) and Aaron Abrams (TV's Hannibal), both of whom can be seen in the short film.

If you're thinking of donating to the project, you can head on over to the film's official crowdfunding page at indiegogo.com.
