Even if you don't believe that things can go bump in the night (or rather in the dark). The act of switching on and off the lights has never felt so unnerving as it does in this trailer for "Lights Out," the new supernatural horror from producer James Wan, who is better known as the director of "The Conjuring," "Saw," and "Furious 7."

The upcoming film, starring Teresa Palmer, Billy Burke, Alexander DiPersia, and Maria Bello, tells the story of a troubled woman (Palmer) who has been terrorized by a shadowy boogeyman for most of her childhood, and now later in her adult life she discovers that the same evil spirit is now terrorizing her younger brother.

Marking the feature film debut of director David F. Sandberg and based on his viral short film of the same name, "Lights Out" will be arriving in theaters this summer, beginning July 22nd.

synopsis:
From producer James Wan ("The Conjuring") comes a tale of an unknown terror that lurks in the dark. When Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was and wasn't real when the lights went out...and now her little brother, Martin (Gabriel Bateman), is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that had once tested her sanity and threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie (Maria Bello), has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger...once the lights go out.
