Next month, SundanceTV will be airing the Irish historical miniseries "Rebellion," about Ireland's 1916 Easter Rising. And the cable network has released the U.S. trailer.

Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Charlie Murphy ('71), Ruth Bradley (TV's Humans), Michelle Fairley (HBO's Game of Thrones), Brian Gleeson (Snow White and the Huntsman), Barry Ward (Jimmy's Hall), Sarah Greene (SHO's Penny Dreadful), Barry Keoghan ('71), and Ian McElhinney (HBO's Game of Thrones), the Colin Teevan-created drama follows the lives of several Irish men and women as they play their part in an armed uprising against British rule during the early days of World War I.

Directed by Finnish filmmaker Aku Louhimies, "Rebellion," which aired in the U.K. back in January, will be making its U.S. debut in April, airing over three consecutive nights on the Sundance Network, beginning Sunday, April 24 through Tuesday, April 26.

The Irish miniseries will also mark the 100th anniversary of the events, known as "The Easter Rising," which begun on April 24, 1916, and ended in the deaths of 500 people, of which 54 percent were civilians.

synopsis:
REBELLION begins with the outbreak of World War I. The tumultuous events that follow are seen through the eyes of three young women and their families, lovers and friends from Belfast, Dublin and London as they play vital and conflicting roles in the narrative of Ireland's independence.
