Recently acquired by Netflix, "Hush" is the latest horror thriller from Mike Flanagan, the cult filmmaker behind the 2014 horror film "Oculus."

Starring Kate Siegel, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Flanagan, the film is, basically, a home-invasion horror about an hearing-impaired writer who, while staying at her remote cottage, discovers she is being stalked by a masked psychopath. Seemingly taking place in one night, the action consists of a terrifying cat-and-mouse game between the deaf author and the psychotic killer. Think "You're Next" meets "The Tribe."

Scheduled to make its world premiere this weekend at the SXSW Film Festival, "Hush" co-stars John Gallagher Jr., Michael Trucco and Samantha Sloyan.

The film will be released on April 8th, exclusively on Netflix. Watch the film's trailer, above, which was released by ew.com.

synopsis:

But when the masked face of a psychotic killer appears in the window of her secluded home, Maddie must push herself beyond her mental and physical limits in order to survive the night.
