Drawing elements from Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window" and perhaps Roman Polanski's "The Tenant," Australian filmmaker Joseph Sims-Dennett (Bad Behaviour) seemingly makes an impressive calling card with his sophomore feature effort, the apartment-set psychological horror "Observance."

The film, which earned good notices at last year's Fantasia and London Film Festival, centers on an amateur private investigator (played by Australian actor Lindsay Farris) who is hired to photograph and spy on a young woman (Stephanie King) from a rundown apartment complex across her street, only to find himself falling into a frightening state of paranoia and panic when strange disturbances begin to affect his work.

Co-starring John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), Brendan Cowell (Beneath Hill 60), Benedict Hardie (The Water Diviner), and Tom O'Sullivan (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), "Observance" will be made available on VOD and for digital download later in the year. Watch the trailer, above.
