Here's the full-length trailer for "Hunt for the Wilderpeople," the new offbeat comedy from New Zealand comedian-filmmaker Taika Waititi, whose credits include the vampire mockumentary "What We Do in the Shadows" and the acclaimed 1980s-set dramedy "BOY."

The film, which just premiered to rave reviews at Sundance last month, revolves around the unlikely relationship between a young pudgy troublemaker named 'Ricky' (played by newcomer Julian Dennison) and his grouchy foster uncle, Uncle Hec (played by veteran actor Sam Neill, of "Jurassic Park" and "The Piano" fame).

When "bad egg" Ricky Baker finds himself in deep trouble with local authorities, he convinces his survivalist foster uncle to lead him into the middle of the New Zealand wilderness, not knowing that it will cause a nationwide manhunt.

Comedian Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) and actress Rachel House (Whale Rider) co-star in this quirky take on New Zealand author Barry Crump's 1986 adventure novel "Wild Pork and Watercress."

Waititi, who directs from his own adapted screenplay, is also known for being attached to helm next year's Marvel sequel "Thor: Ragnarok," which goes into production this spring.

"Hunt for the Wilderpeople" is due to open in New Zealand at the end of March. It's also set to play that same month at the SXSW Film Festival.

synopsis:
Ricky (Julian Dennison) is a defiant young city kid who finds himself on the run with his grumpy foster uncle (Sam Neill) in the wild New Zealand bush.
