Canadian actor-filmmaker Paul Gross (TV's Due South) made his mark with writing, directing, and starring in 2008's WWI-set drama "Passchendaele." Gross is back with another war film, this time, taking on the modern-day ground battles in Afghanistan.

In "Hyena Road," Gross once again writes, directs, produces, and stars as a Canadian military officer in charge of a sniper team that's been tasked with protecting and securing a service road.

When the head sniper (played by Rossif Sutherland; son of Donald and half-brother of Kiefer) witnesses a high-ranking Taliban leader abducting children from a nearby village, he wants the authorization to use force. His request is quickly denied when the team discovers the target is also a valuable informant for the CIA, which makes their mission more complicated than it already is.

Co-starring Clarke Johnson, Christine Horne, Neamat Arghandabi, Nabil Elouahabi, and Allan Hawco, "Hyena Road" is scheduled to hit theaters and VOD on March 11th. Watch the film's trailer, above.
