In the new teaser trailer for "Equals," Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult manage to fall in love in spite of living in a future where human emotions are forbidden.

Working with a script by "Moon" screenwriter Nathan Parker, indie director Drake Doremus (Like Crazy, Breathe In) takes a stab at the sci-fi genre and tells an unconventional love story between two emotionally restricted citizens (Stewart and Hoult) that are living in a purified society. Just imagine a future world similar to the one in Andrew Niccol's 1997 sci-fi classic "Gattaca," but where feelings, not genetic make-up, are heavily scrutinized.

Co-starring Guy Pearce, Bel Powley, Kate Lyn Sheil, and Jacki Weaver, "Equals" made its festival premiere last September at both Venice and Toronto. The film, which is executive produced by Ridley Scott, will be released later in the year.
