Captain America: Civil War — Super Bowl Trailer

added: Sun, Feb 7th '16

Something must be in the water. Because superheroes can't seem to get along these days.

Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) must have run out of villains to fight, so they have now turned on each other. And their bitter rift is getting really, really personal in the new Super Bowl trailer for Marvel's latest sure-fire blockbuster, "Captain America: Civil War."

The film is picking up where "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" have left off. Steve Rogers (aka Cap) is trying to help his old buddy, Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan), to recover from years of brainwashing at the hands of the evil organization Hydra. Unfortunately, the rest of the world, including Tony Stark, only sees Bucky as The Winter Soldier, a metal-armed assassin who played a part in the demise of S.H.I.E.L.D.

So when the government passed a new accountability law that turns Bucky into a wanted man, Cap is left with no other choice but to go against some of his teammates (led by Iron Man) to do what he thinks is right, which, in essence, pits Avenger against Avenger. Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Martin Freeman, and Paul Rudd also star.

"Civil War," directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo (The Winter Soldier), will also feature the first film appearance of African chief-turned-superhero, the Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman ("Get on Up" and "42"). The film is opening on May 6th.

"Captain America: Civil War" picks up where "Avengers: Age of Ultron" left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
